VRB World Cup qualification is the process that determines which nations will compete at the 308 VRB World Cup in Shaelia. A total of 64 nations are eligible to qualify for the VRB World Cup tournament. Of that total, only sixteen nations will qualify, or approximately 25% of those eligible for qualification.

For the 308 VRB World Cup, only the host nation, Shaelia, is automatically qualified for the tournament.

Qualifying TournamentsEdit

Association of Eras Rugby Unions (AERU)Edit

There are five places in the World Cup field available for the nations on the continent of Eras. Qualification consists of three rounds (Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3). In all rounds, the VRB bonus points system is in place, giving one point for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one point for losing by seven or fewer points in a match. In Round 1, the 21 nations are divided into seven three-nation groups (Groups A-G). Each nation plays a home and away series against the other two nations in their group, for a total of four games. Four points are awarded for a win, two for a draw, and no points are awarded for a loss. In Round 2, the top finishing nation in each group and the best 2nd place finishing nation among all seven groups are divided into two four-nations groups (Groups H and I) and play a single round-robin against the other three nations in their group, for a total of three games. The top two finishing nations in each group qualify for the 308 VRB World Cup. The third place nation from each group then moves into Round 3, a single game to determine the fifth and final qualifier for the World Cup.

Association of Longerath Rugby Unions (ALRU)Edit

There are four spots open to the nations of Longerath in the 308 VRB World Cup. Qualification consists of two rounds (Round 1 and Round 2). In all rounds, the VRB bonus points system is in place, giving one point for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one point for losing by seven or fewer points in a match. In Round 1, 12 of the 14 participant nations are divided into four three-nation groups (Groups A-D). St. Samuel and Solelhada, by virtue of their Top 10 world rankings, are awarded byes into Round 2. Each nation in Round 1 plays a home and away series against the other two nations in their group, for a total of four games. The top finishing nation in each group advances to Round 2, which consists of two three-nation groups (Groups E-F), with St. Samuel in Group E and Solelhada placed in Group F. As in Round 1, a double round-robin schedule of four games is played. The top two finishing nations in each group qualify for the 308 VRB World Cup.

Rugby Union Association of Melania (RUAM)Edit

There are three spots in the World Cup field available for the nations on the continents of Melania and Maritimia. Qualification consists of two rounds (Round 1 and Round 2). In both rounds, the VRB bonus points system is in place, giving one point for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one point for losing by seven or fewer points in a match. In Round 1, the 12 participant nations are divided into four three-nation groups (Group A-D), and they play a double round-robin schedule of four games. In Round 2, the top finishing nation from each group in Round 1 are placed in a single four-nation group (Group E). Each nation then plays a three-game round-robin slate of games, with the top three finishing nations qualifying for the 308 VRB World Cup.

Association of Fiarria and Delgamia Rugby Unions (AFDRU)Edit

There is one spot in the308 VRB World Cup field and one spot in the 308 VRB World Cup Repechage available for the nations on the continents of Fiarria and Delgamia. Qualification consists of three rounds (Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3). In all rounds, the VRB bonus points system is in place, giving one point for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one point for losing by seven or fewer points in a match. In Round 1, the nine participating nations are divided into three three-nation groups (Groups A-C) where they play a double round-robin schedule of four games. The top two finishing nations in each group then advance to Round 2, which consists of two three-nation groups (Group D-E). Each nation plays two games in their group. The top two finishing nations in each group from Round 2 then advance to Round 3, which consists is a single four-nation table (Group F). Each nation plays a three-game schedule (once against other three nations in the table). The top finishing nation qualifies outright for the 308 VRB World Cup. The nation finishing second in the table enters the 308 VRB World Cup Repechage with the nations placing second and third in the RAN qualification tournament table.

Rugby Association of Nuarmia (RAN)Edit

There is one spot in the 308 VRB World Cup field available and two spots in the 308 VRB World Cup Repechage for the nations on the continent of Nuarmia. Initial qualification consists of a single round (Round 1). The VRB bonus points system is in place, giving one point for scoring four or more tries in a match, and one point for losing by seven or fewer points in a match. All seven nations are placed in a single table and play a round-robin schedule, facing the other six nations a single time. A total of six games is played by each nation. The nation finishing at the top of the seven-nation table qualifies for the 308 VRB World Cup. The nations placing second and third enter the 308 VRB World Cup Repechage with the nation placing second in the AFDRU qualification table.

Repechage RoundEdit

After the five associations have completed their qualification tournaments, the Association of Fiarria and Delgamia Rugby Unions and the Rugby Association of Nuarmia play a repechage round to determine the final qualifier for the 308 VRB World Cup. The round consists of three nations, the nations placing second and third in the RAN qualification table, and the nation placing second in the AFDRU qualification table.
