A civil war is an armed conflict in which the warring parties are, generally, part of a same country or group. Such conflicts can occur as a result of religious, ethnic, social, or political strife. Some civil wars may also be labeled revolutions, if a major restructuring of the country is one of the possible outcomes of the conflict.
